A HIGHLY SPECIALIZED TRACKWORK, EXHIBITION LAYOUT





The brand new, yet to be formally named, Trolley Museum themed layout was shown running 100% reliably throughout the Nuremberg show the weekend of July 4th 2009.

THERE ARE SOME IMPORT UNUSUAL FEATURES of this layout,

This "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track based layout is BRAND NEW and has never been publicly disclosed before.

So this page is to introduce the Trolley Museum layout to you and highlight the important comparisons and differences with earlier layouts.



FIRST, YES! THIS IS ACTUALLY HO!!!

From incredible Precision Multi-route Frogs and Rail virtually to Exact Scale. . .



. . .to Complex, Dual-gauge Double Junctions with smooth curved Diamond Crossings, The Trolley Museum Layout uses "ELECTRIC AVENUE's" completely unique, 21st Century Technology to achieve detail and accuracy never before possible in HO trackwork.

There is ALMOST NO LIMIT TO HOW CLOSE UP THIS TRACK STILL LOOKS ABSOLUTELY REAL.



Yet at the same time, all the Streetcars, Box cars, and other Locomotives that run on "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track , have COMPLETELY STANDARD, RTR, UNMODIFIED, HO NMRA RP 25 WHEELS. EVEN CODE 88 WHEELS WORK. All with faultless continuous exhibition operation at reasonable speeds.

Now when you have Master Craftsmen and/or Businesses building layouts of this nature, over a many years, and with access to all sorts of expensive custom jigs and specialized tools, you can imagine that they will eventually achieve these sorts of results.

HOWEVER, IN THE CASE OF THIS "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track MUSEUM LAYOUT, IT WAS ONLY STARTED IN FEBRUARY '09 and FINISHED TO THE STATE SHOWN IN TIME FOR THE FIRST WEEK IN JULY '09 EXHIBITION.

ONE MAN - NO JIGS - NO SPECIAL TOOLS.

And although the builder of the Trolley Museum layout is an exceptional modeler, he categorically stated in an independent magazine article, ("Tramfare" 7/09) that:

"This ELECTRIC AVENUE STREET TRACK SYSTEM provides the easiest and fastest way of self building tracks with all metal grooves (flangeways) I've experienced"

And just in case you overlooked it, that short 5 months included the exquisite hand carving of what must be a few million cobblestones in all the plaster work that you can see, plus also putting up overhead wiring over all the tracks. WOW!!!

But that's not all the story. .

The "ELECTRIC AVENUE" BASED Museum Layout is a normal private, personal layout. NO COMPANY SPONSORSHIP OR MANUFACTURER SUPPORT, OTHER THAN A SMALL QTY DISCOUNT ON THE PURCHASE OF THE PARTS.

The immediate response that any reasonable person would immediately make is that any system with so much fine detail and incredible miniature precision engineering, that is so easy and fast to use, without tools, must cost a fortune.

"SO HOW MUCH EXTRA DOES "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track COST FOR ALL THAT EXTRA CAPABILITY AND REALISM?"

The answer is also just as incredible.
"IT'S GENERALLY LESS COSTLY AND MUCH LESS EFFORT THAN JUST GOOD QUALITY REGULAR HO HAND LAID TRACK".

For example, 1 yard of Traditional plain track hand laid with 100% 2mm PCB ties to hold firm at a tight radius, retails at $13.50 JUST FOR THE TIES ALONE. Then you still have to buy and put rail on and solder them all up individually. And of course, for a nice even, tight, radius you may be told you need an expensive rail bender as well an even more expensive fixture to hold the rails in place while you solder.



On the other hand, Straight "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track (two rails) costs less than $11.00 a yard and only needs to be cut to length and stuck or soldered to a flat roadbed at reasonable intervals. Curves cost a little more, but come PRE-FORMED TO EVERY EVEN NUMBERED RADIUS FROM 6" to 18"!!! And all can be laid in just minutes per item.

Street turnouts are as simple to make and lay, and cost well under $10.00 each, with ABSOLUTELY NO JIGS or SPECIAL TOOLS NEEDED.

Watch out for more information coming on the "Museum" in due course. In the mean-time, THE EXPANSION OF THE "ELECTRIC AVENUE" Street Track SYSTEM CONTINUES with the latest RR STYLE PAVED TURNOUTS to just as easily model the world of INDUSTRIAL AND DOCKSIDE MODELING FOR REGULAR RAILROAD TRAINS.



The Stores has just introduced MATCHING, ALSO ALMOST EXACT TO SCALE, REGULAR RAILROAD TRACK AND TURNOUT PARTS FOR PAVED STREET, YARD AND DOCKS OPERATION.

These include points, rail and frogs for #4, #5 and #6 turnouts.
