WELCOME TO THE FEBRUARY 2012 PROTO:87 STORES NEWS AND NEW PRODUCTS HIGHLIGHTS

First we have some nice pictures to share of a new customer's up and coming "Electric Avenue" trolley module project.

Here are two videos I recently shot of our contemporary "local" Amtrak "Starlight" service (one per day each way), passing through Grover Beach Station. The Proto:87 Stores workshop is just out of sight, two hundred yards away from the tracks, just South of the Station.

And Southbound

And here is our future "demo" model version of the "Starlight" posing partly finished on the layout.

We have now been ESTABLISHED FOR FIFTEEN YEARS steadily growing our ranges of uniquely "Accurate Track" for Model Railroads, and we are still adding more and more exciting and realistic new product lines!!!

THE FULL RANGE OF ALL SIX NUMBER SIZES (#5 THRU #10) of our new super detailed and super precision manganese frogs. are now available in ALL THREE RAIL SIZES (Code 55, 70 and 83), AND IN BOTH NMRA HO AND PROTO:87 VERSIONS.

Note, The past and present versions of our "Ultimate" and "88-SAFE" UNIVERSAL HO FROGS (Good for both Code 110 AND code 88 Wheels) are all based on CORRECT EXACT AND ABSOLUTELY PRECISION, PROTOTYPE DIMENSIONS.

This means that, as you can see in the brief video clip, all the types of frogs are completely inter-changeable and you may upgrade or swap to different frog types at any time.

All these frogs are now available as options in all our Turnout Kits, whether Plastic or Wood tie based.

We are getting very good feedback for our new "Rail Brace" spikes, for code 70/83 or code 55,

These precision stainless steel braces both look the part prototypically and also perform the same function of strengthening the working area of the stock rails for ANY hand-laid or RTR turnout they are added to.

AND OF COURSE WE ARE JUST ABOUT MANAGING TO KEEP UP WITH THE DEMAND FOR THE NEW MOLE V1.1 DOUBLE ACTION, SWITCH MACHINE KIT

(Layout installation picture - Courtesy of Dr. Robert Sterner)

Here the "MOLE" is shown mounted traditionally for those who still prefer to crawl under their baseboards, ;)

The mole can be mounted and used in the same way and place as larger motors, but of course, takes up far less space and depth.

The Mole operates from switched +/- 12 v DC at nominal 30 mA stall current, using the 2 x 200 Ohm resistors (included). That means it can be operated from exactly the same (or existing) 12v supply and DPDT switches as traditional larger stall motors.

FINALLY I AM HOPING TO FIND ENOUGH TIME TO FINISH THE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS, SO THAT WE CAN RELEASE THE NEW #8 "SWITCH-WORKS" DOUBLE SLIP OPTION AND CROSSING AND SLIP KITS LATER THIS MONTH.

(The #8 SLIPS/CROSSING "SWITCH-WORKS" option and full tieplate set)

PRE-PRODUCTION UNITS OF TWO OTHER NEW PRODUCT "SECRET PROJECTS" SHOULD BE ARRIVING FOR TESTING IN LATE FEBRUARY AS WELL.
If those check out correctly, then I'll have two more new product lines to announce in March.
